Clock and time

The device is the source of the date and time on every fiscal receipt. It therefore checks its own time against the time server the Tax Administration names.

How the device keeps the time right

  1. The device receives the time server address from the Tax Administration, by command.
  2. The device measures the computer clock's offset from that server once a day, and at the latest every 48 hours, as the rules require. If a measurement fails, it tries again after 15 minutes.
  3. The device does not change the computer's clock. It gives receipts its own corrected time: the computer clock plus the measured offset.

In the device window, in the Podešavanja sa Poreske uprave (Settings from the Tax Administration) section, you can see the time of the last check and the measured offset.

When the computer clock is far off

If the computer clock is off by three minutes or more, the device writes this to the error log. Receipts still carry the corrected time, but the correction holds only while the device can check the time over the internet. Set the computer clock correctly.

Protection against setting the clock back

A receipt can never carry a time earlier than the last receipt issued. If the device clock is earlier than the last receipt, the device refuses the receipt with code 6002. This is the alternative method for a software L-PFR, which makes sure the time on receipts always moves forward.

If the computer clock has been set back, the device also shows the message Sat na računaru je vraćen unazad (Computer clock set back) and issues no new receipts until the clock is right.

Without a time server address

Until the device has received a time server address, the clock has never been checked and the device reports code 6008. The address arrives by itself when the device is on the internet.
